According to Hindu mythology, the great king Ravana used to worship Lord Shiva at this place to get the boons that he misused to create havoc in the world. Later, Ravana willingly sacrificed his ten heads to Lord Shiva in guilt.

However, Shiva got pleased and impressed and therefore, cured the injured Ravana. From this perspective, Shiva acted as a doctor and hence, the temple’s name was derived. You must visit the Baidyanath Dham Temple to explore more of the mythological facts and unmatchable architectural designs.

Basukinath temple:

This unique temple is located on the outskirts of Deoghar. It can be located on the Deoghar – Dumka state highway and is around 25 km northwest of Dumka. You can easily catch the trains at the nearest railway stations that are, Jasidih Dumka New Railway line and Basukinath Railway Station.

Trikuta Parvata:

The Trikuta Parvata is located approximately 10 km away from Deoghar, that is, in the outskirts of Deoghar. We can find it on the way to Dumka in Jharkhand. This hill is 2470 feet high. You can see spectacular waterfalls in July and September.

The Ropeway is one of the best attractions of Trikuta Paravata, and you can use it to reach the top of the hill. The passenger rope ride costs approximately INR 150 per head. If you are in Deoghar, then you must visit this place.

Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith:

It is an old residential school situated at Deoghar. This school is just 10 minutes away from the Deoghar shiv temple. The entire vibe is very pleasant and peaceful. The infrastructure is excellent and has a temple within the campus area.

It is the oldest institute of Ramakrishna Mission. Moreover, the brother disciples of Swami Vivekananda used to visit the school. However, it is exclusively meant for boys and affiliated to CBSE.

Naulakha Mandir:

It is located just 2 km away from Baba Baidyanath Temple. This beautiful temple comprises of mesmerizing idols of Radha – Krishna. The sculptures of God are ranging about 146 ft in height.

The total cost to construct the entire epitome of elegance was around nine lakh rupees and therefore, and hence, the temple was named as ‘Naulakha temple’. The overall ambience and vibe of this temple are very calm.

Nandan Pahar:

This small hill is located on the edge of the town. The town hosts the Nandi Temple and also is in front of faces the famous Shiv temple. It is around 3 km away from Baidyanath Dham station. There are numerous temples on this hill ad they possess sculptures of Lord Shiva, Parvati, Ganesha and Kartik. There is also a water tank which provides filtered water to the entire area.
